[Workshop Three] What are the needs of Britain’s Business community, and how can these best be met? Is a stronger voice needed for Chinese entrepreneurs, and how might that be achieved?

Delegates Comments: It was generally agreed among workshop participants that Chinese businesses in Britain are deeply conservative and family-orientated. In other words, a typical Chinese business owner prefers to retain control by mostly hiring from within the family unit.

Chinese entrepreneurial ambitions in Britain are also often smaller in scale because of a tendency to focus on immediate concerns.

Language was cited as a barrier for the majority of Chinese entrepreneurs advancing beyond current business practice.

A stronger business voice will only be achieved through greater community involvement.
