Academic Excellence
|
Dr Yuen Hong Joseph Au, co-founder of the UK Federation of Chinese Schools and lecturer at Brunel University, spoke about the academic success enjoyed by the Chinese community.
Studies show that Chinese students out-performed all other ethnic groups in 2006 UK academic tables. Impressively, Chinese pupils scored on top in Key Stage 2, Key Stage 3 and GCSE English, Maths and Science.
There were ripples of cheers from the audience when Dr Au revealed that Chinese girls surpassed boys in all three subjects, at every level.
UCAS figures showed Chinese applicants scored the highest among all university entrants, with over 84 per cent accepted by UK universities in 2005.
