The Chinese in Britain Forum held its National Conference in London on 2 April 2007.
Delegates came from across the UK for the event; both young and old, Chinese and non-Chinese, students and professionals. All had congregated to learn about the achievements of the Chinese community as well as add their voice to the debate surrounding active citizenship.
Opened by Councillor Lin Xu, keynote speakers at the conference included Joseph Au, Simon Heale, Suzzanah Kwok and Christine Lee. They addressed the issues of education, entrepreneurial success, cultural integrity and civic engagement to a receptive audience.
Workshops gave visitors the opportunity to explore these topics further in addition to providing a platform to discuss why the Chinese community is seen as the 'invisible minority' and more importantly, how to change it.
What resulted from the conference was both encouraging and enlightening.
